The Park Way Bentley Continental convertible was a rare treat for the us to work. This classic Bentley was as clean underneath as it was inside. At Stephens Engineering, we keep a special ramp for classic vehicles. This ensures that are not disturbed during the strip down stages. This classic Bentley convertible has a four speed standard dual gearbox. The transmission was originally a Cadillac transmission, modified for Bentley and Rolls Royce models. This classic Bentley Continental gearbox had a third gear failure. The most common cause of gearbox failure is the clutch linkage adjustments and wear of the valve body. The down shift pressures must also be set to a very fine tolerance after refitting the Bentley gearbox.

When we work on classic vehicles, we have a strict routine when overhauling a classic car gearbox. During the gearbox overhaul, all bands, clutches and seals are changed. Some older classic gearboxes also require hardware, however, the Bentley Continental gearbox is a robust transmission with a cast iron construction. Once the gearbox overhaul has been completed, the Bentley gearbox was refitted. The down shift pressures must also be set to a very fine tolerance after refitting the Bentley gearbox.
