2013 Mercedes Sprinter Gearbox Repair
The automatic gearbox specialists, Stephens Engineering, recently carried out a 2013 Mercedes Sprinter gearbox repair.
The 2013 Mercedes Sprinter gearbox is a seven speed automatic gearbox. The Mercedes Sprinter vehicle are very popular and often the vehicle of choice for delivery companies. The Mercedes Sprinter van brought into the Stephens Engineering workshop had been used extensively by its supermarket owners and as a result, the vehicle’s mileage was quite high.
When the Mercedes Sprinter was brought into the Stephens Engineering workshop, the 2013 Mercedes Sprinter gearbox had little drive and also burnt transmission fluid. The Mercedes Sprinter gearbox was removed and dismantled in the Stephens Engineering specialist workshop. The Sprinter van’s main running gear and clutch drums are mainly aluminium construction and as a result, the aluminium gearbox components wear on any friction mated area.
In the Stephens Engineering workshop, the Mercedes Sprinter gearbox required a complete replacement of the gearbox drums and gear sets. With the Mercedes Sprinter, the electronic control plate and sensors are mounted on the transmission valve body and these components were also carefully inspected. To complete the 2013 Mercedes Sprinter gearbox repair, the Mercedes torque converter was also re-manufactured by the Stephens Engineering team, refitted and kept with its original transmission.
After re-fitting the Mercedes Sprinter torque converter and transmission, the gearbox adaption procedures were carried out together with clutch fill times, followed by a long road test to let all the new and repaired components settle in. The road test confirmed that the 2013 Mercedes Sprinter gearbox repair was successful.
