As specialist automatic transmission repairers, we regularly see the dual clutch or power shift transmission units in our workshop. The dual clutch transmission does not use a torque converter. The dual clutch gearbox is connected to the engine by a damper plate or dual mass flywheel. The dual clutch transmission units are a semi-automatic transmission unit offering the elements of both manual transmission and automated manual transmission. Essentially, the dual clutch unit is effectively a manual gearbox with a computer and robot changing the ratios.
