Chrysler Voyager Gearbox Repair

We carried out a Chrysler Voyager gearbox repair in the Stephens Engineering workshop recently.

The 2008 Chrysler Voyager was delivered to our workshop with very little drive and binding up. Following a detailed inspection, we noted that the engine oil was burnt and so we removed and stripped the automatic transmission of the Chrysler Voyager. This 2008 Chrysler Voyagers is a diesel model and tend to be more prone to suffering from failure of the torque converter. We cut open the torque converter and found that it was in quite good condition but further into the automatic transmission, we found signs of water contamination. We ran further testing of the automatic gearbox cooling system which is part of the Chrysler’s air conditioning condenser and the leak was found.

We overhauled the automatic gearbox and the torque converter and then refitted them to the vehicle. We fitted a new condenser radiator and flushed the system to ensure there were no further leaks and or water contamination to the gearbox. All the  trouble codes were cleared and we gave the vehicle a ten mile road test which found the automatic transmission was working fine and the vehicle was driving well.
